Dear Friends of Rainbow,
It is my honor to share with you a glimpse into our past, as we celebrate 39 years of serving families in St.Tammany Parish. Rainbow Child Care Center was established in 1983 as a mission project of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Macedonia Baptist Church to address the needs of affordable child care in our community. The Center was the vision of Mr. Bill Speers and its' mission was to provide a quality child care program for working families. Over the course of its' existence, Rainbow has faced many challenges. In the early years, the challenge was funding. United Way recognized the value of early learning and invested in our program in 1987. We've proudly remained a United Way Partner Agency for 36 years. Then there was Hurricane Katrina. So many people in South Louisiana experienced monumental loss. We were no exception. Rainbow may not have been here to celebrate 36 years, if it weren't for the generosity o both Slidell Rotary Clubs and the Rotary of San Jose, CA. We remain forever grateful. Today, we face the toughest climate we've seen in a long time. The one consistent hope reflected in our past, is the determination of the people in our community, and beyond, to make a difference when it really counts. To know Rainbow is to love Rainbow. On any given day, you can walk the halls of the Center, see the faces of our students, and know that you made that possible. We look forward to the opportunity to serve our community for many years to come, and we thank you for supporting Raindbow so we may carry our mission foward.
